I upgraded my Dell XPS 1530 from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10. As usual when upgrading a Debian-based system, the process itself was a breeze: click "upgrade" in Update Manager, answer a few questions (mainly about what to do with manually modified config files - I usually choose to replace them, and then check my modifications in the backup that dpkg creates), and half an hour later the updates are downloaded and installed.
